Leak from spigot/garden hose connection
I replaced the garden hose onto my outside spigot. Now it leaks from the spigot/hose connection. I then purchased a threaded pipe extension to hook the garden hose onto that but still it leaks from the spigot/hose connection.
I never had a leak with my old hose and as I also tried the pipe extension and the new hose and both give me leaks I am at a loss.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance

Try some teflon plumber's tape around the male end of the connection. This should stop your leak.

Hi,
I would say missing or damaged washer sealing the fitting.
Peace,

Washer is my thinking, but if I read you correctly, the leak always stays at the spigot even with a new extension, is that correct?

If washer is new and Teflon tape did not help, it is possible leak is coming from packing nut.
This is nut that spindle goes through. Tighten nut and see if this helps.

I am not sure what you mean by the packing nut. The hose faucet is one piece - the spigot for the hose and the connection for the turning on/off wheel. I would love to just take that whole faucet off but it's on so tight I can't get it off.
Tks

OK. You said that there is a rubber washer there, correct. If reasonably tight there should be not leak. First inspect the end of the hose bib to insure that it is smooth, no nicks or grooves.
No nicks or grooves, put a second washer in the end of the hose. With two washers the hose connector should easily seal.

Ok thanks I'll pick up another washer tomorrow and see if that does the trick. If not I'll try that thin stripped plumbing tape and put it around the spigot
Thanks again you've been super helpful

I just bought a house that came with a fitting on the outside garden hose bib and I believe it was put there to conserve water. It had a piece sticking out of the middle of it and if you press in that piece with enough force, it opens this fitting up for water to flow through. Well, I tried 3...

Hi!
I am a new home owner and went out and bought a 3/4" garden hose to water my flowers. When I tried to attach the hose to the spigot, it turns out that the spigot and the hose opening are the same size, so obviously the female end of the hose did not attach to the male spigot! (yes, I...
