New Years resolution
The title says it all. Did you make a New Years resolution, and if so, what was it?
Mine is to lose some weight, get my health back on track somehow, make a success of my business, quite smoking (that's been my New Years resolution for some years now), and to get my house fixed up so I can sell it.
So what did you promise to do in 2015?
Happy New Year everyone.

I don't make resolutions, per se but I do have things that I think about and hopefully will do.
I would like to start exercising and, obviously, make a success out of my business (or at least come up with something that will be successful). I would also like to think more positively but I don't see that happening...haha.
I also would like to get back to more of the person I was 25 years ago, inside I mean...maybe without the heavy drinking that was associated with me at that time.

Positive thinking is the key odinn, or so I've been told. I have a bit of trouble with that as well.
Does vacuuming count as exercising?

No, I don't think that counts.
I have a perfectly good exercise bike here, a very good one that I bought to help re-hab my knee when it was broken. Sadly, all it does now is collect dust. I should use it more and I want to but I'm always so damn lazy and can't motivate myself.

My parents had an exercise bike in their bedroom. They bought it when I was around 11. I never saw them use it even once. It eventually became a place for them to hang their clothes.

Question: Why is it that keeping with some regular exercise seems to be such a challenge for many people? It doesn't have to be anything too strenuous to be of benefit, or even all that time consuming. We know that we should be doing it. We know about the tremendous health benefits. We even usually feel pretty good after we have exercised, so there is reward and satisfaction from the action. Yet, it often remains an area that so many don't regularly participate in.
A good friend and I wrote ours down and gave them to each other as a way to be more accountable. That's the idea anyway! We have talked about these things for quite a long time and have decided that the talking just wasn't getting us anywhere and that this is the year to actually take action.
Mine: exercise regularly, make some healthier eating choices, get the website I've been working on in my mind up and going, take on more work to build an emergency fund faster, get better organized with my work, housework, and yardwork... all those projects that I've been wanting to get done, get back into learning Spanish and piano, and make time to have more fun with family and friends. It's a lot, but I am banking on having a year to pull it all off!
I do count vacuuming as exercise if you put on some music and dance and stretch as you are doing it!

Love it Doula. I think you're on the right track.
I plan to "exercise"every day. I do actually exercise every day just doing housework, walking the dogs etc. But I don't count that as exercise because of what I see on TV. On TV if you're not doing 30 minutes of calisthenics you're not exercising. I think that's why so many people fail to "exercise"even though they really are exercising. If that makes any sense. :)
Today is the first day of a 365 book. We can all make it as interesting as we want to, and as enjoyable as we want. It's in our hands.

I made a resolution to stop eating boogers, but I already broke it... again. If I could only get past this booger thing, then I could begin working on the smoking, drinking, masturbating, lying, bragging, lechery, lust, gluttony, sloth, envy, pride, fighting, carousing, adultery, porn, and video gaming, to name just a few.

Are cavorting, gamboling, and galavanting good habits to give up? I hope so - haven't done any of them in years.

I have always sworn by walking, Alty. It is cardovascular, which means anything that gets your heart rate up, burns of calories. Also, jogging, running is excellent. Look up on Google 'learning how to run'. Don't laugh, there is actually a system. You walk for two minutes, run for four, walk for four minutes, run for eight, until your body becomes accustomed.
I love it ! If I can do this at 73, you can do it at? I know you are younger than me !
And no, I didn't make any resolutions for 2015

My resolution is to become rich and famous. And I was just dealt a blow to that. Seems there was a lottery winner in my state with the same last name as me (no relation). So what are the odds that there would be a lottery winner with the same last name in same state in less than a year? Add that to odds of winning the lottery in the first place and I might was well stop playing ::sniff::

I like that resolution, at least the part about getting rich. I wouldn't want to be famous, I like my privacy, and being able to go out whenever I want without having a flock up people come running up to me asking for my autograph.

I love going for walks, but running, no. I only run if I'm being chased, and even then it depends on who or what is chasing me. ;)
