    Same amount of child support?
My husband is paying $ 700 a month for a child from his previous marriage. If he becomes a father again, will he have to continue to pay the same amount? We live in NY.

    Thanks.

No, but you will have to go back to court.

I doubt you will see a significant drop in that number.
    Im in the same situation.

It appears that its only in the best
Interest of the kids who where their first.
The new ones got to suffer.

Logically, You would want them to all get the same amount.
If I'm ever in the position to change the law, custodial
Parents will get the same amount that welfare offers and nothing more.

In NY it is "basically" by statute, based on income. The Courts take the position that the child from the first relationship shouldn't have to suffer because there is a child in a second relationship.

I'm sure you realize the first child still needs to eat, have heat and electric, have shoes... despite the second child. This is a very difficult situation on all sides - mother, father, second wife who would like to have a child and I do understand that.

$700 a month translates to a little over $162 a week. It used to be 18% for one child so that's on an income of $46,000/year, give or take.
