Trump, General Flynn, Hillary Clinton and pizza
    Hello:

If the world comes apart, the LAST guy to whisper in Trumps ear is a CONSPIRACY NUT. Yes, that IS crazy.. Supposedly, Hillary Clinton is running a child sex ring out of a pizza parlor in Washington DC. Of COURSE, it's NUTS, but General Flynn BELIEVES it, and tweets it to the world..

Unsurprisingly, some Trump supporter showed up at the pizza parlor WITH a gun and gets off a shot.

Goodbye America.. It was fun while it lasted.

To set the facts straight: Michael Flynn did not tweet about PizzaGate (the baseless rumor about child sex ring operating out of the Comet PingPong pizzeria in CD), but he did post a tweet referring to "Clinton sex crimes" in general. And his son, who acts as Flynn's chief of staff, did indeed tweet about PizzaGate. See: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.b9cd8070b540

On a personal note: my daughter and grandchildren live in the area and have been to that restaurant multiple times. We are understandably aghast at the actions of the idiot with a gun, but also annoyed at how so many idiots on social media gobble up falsehoods and spread them through Twitter, FaceBook, etc. to other idiots. We all need to be much more skeptical of what we read on social media, especially when what we read aligns with our preconceived biases.

During the campaign I went after a few people (some friends, others friends of friends) who posted illogical or false "news". For example a quote from Hillary that nurses were overrated. Another example was a person who stated that "no one deserves the harassment that was being directed at Trump". I pointed out to this person that Clinton had been the target of the same level of harassment, so did this person not believe she deserved it? Of course this person thought she did. So I then pointed out that she made a false statement, If "no one" deserves the harassment, then neither Trump nor clinton does. The logic and hypocrisy of this person's statement failed to get through.

Zuckerberg has made the claim that all the false news on Facebook did not have an influence on the election. He is doing his best ostrich imitation with that statement.

I would say that a goodly number of people are intelligent enough to see through the garbage. But its clear that even greater amount of people are not (and this is one of the main reasons the Founding Fathers created the Electoral College). "If its on the Internet, it must be so" appears to be the way too many think. Hopefully people will see what happens to real people like the owners of that pizza place. Hopefully that will prompt them to make sure they confirm facts before just passing them on.

Scott people who frequent Facebook might not influenced by garbage but it is a forum for comment and that reinforces views already held

At the DIA, the employees referred to "Flynn's Facts", meaning he made up stuff out of whole cloth as long as it supported his bias of the moment. Trump's pick of Flynn says tons about Trump.

Go no further than this very website to see moronic "facts" posted by equally moronic members. No need to list them. We all know who they are. Especially see the thread claiming for a fact that HRC had Parkinson's Disease. And see who supported that bit of moronic nonsense.

    Goodbye America. Indeed!!

When Dan Rather ,in an attempt to influence the 2004 election ,was doing exposes about Bush's service in the Air National Guard based on forged documents ,the left was not complaining about false news then .

It's happened repeatedly by the so called gatekeepers of the truth at the MSM . I recall in the early 1990s NBC rigging a GM truck with explosives so they could show that a GM truck could leak gas and cause an explosion.

It was proven that Jayson Blair at the NY Slimes repeatedly invented stories. He was finally dismissed because of plagarism.

NBC edited the George Zimmerman 911 call to make it sound that Zimmerman was obsessed with Trayvon Martin’s race. . The MSM repeatedly showed pictures of a very young innocent looking Martin instead of more recent photos in a effort to shape the narrative .

Bryan Williams repeatedly lied about taking enemy fire in Iraq .

Those are just examples that I recall without much effort . Going back in history ,the Slimes repeatedly covered up or under reported the Holocaust.

So this fake news stuff is old news .

    Hello again, tom:

The problem isn't fake news.. It's that our LEADERS believe it and propagate it.

The problem is that it's a LOT easier to place and promote fake news then it used to be. No its not new, no one is saying it is. But because of social media, its now easy to publish and get people to believe it.

PizzaGate is just a diversion the media and the left is using yet again to distract attention from something else. Something not very well known and certainly not as widely believed as some people would like you to believe. Like that video almost nobody ever saw they blamed for the attacks that became BenghaziGate.

99% of the liberal media coverage of Trump has been fake news... and most of the public knows it. NY Slimes and the Washington comPost base their business around fake news.

We are in BIG trouble if 99% of the liberal media is fake news and 100% of the conservative narrative is total BS!

We are in even bigger trouble if ,as Smoothy points out, and Ex stated ,our elected officials are the biggest perpetrators of fake news ....and like Joseph Goebbels.... repeat it over and over again even in the face of it's repudiation.

    Hello again,

We ARE in BIG trouble, especially with Der Pumpkintweeter in charge..

But, he's NOT president yet.. We've got 6 weeks to save this great land of ours. Can a leader emerge who could WIN the Electoral College vote?? I say yes. I nominate Jon Stewart as savior of the world. What? He's a Jew. Isn't that one of the requirements??
