And I've tried 3 or 4 of the locally-available, including at least one that was supposed to be all zinc. It was a waste of time and money.
Change does. And tankless water heaters can be sized...

At a cost of over $80 plus shipping, I'm not real crazy about the experimenting with another anode. The $249 powered anode doesn't excite me much, either. And I'm not overly confident in any vendor...

The legs weren't all the way out but I did shorten them up and re-level the machine. It didn't seem like much of a change but the washer is back to normal behavior. It seems odd that this would...

There are 3 springs and there all there; none broken, none disconnected; all in place. Could they have lost tension and become too "soft" to do their job?

It's a Magic Chef W206K -- I think it was made by Maytag.
After years of good service, it's suddenly started "walking" around the laundry room during the spin cycle. This isn't an unbalanced load...

It's not how long the filter gets used as it is how much stuff the filter traps. I have not yet found a pattern that makes sense to me but sometimes the filter "fills up" faster and more completely...
-
Concur that it's a bad setup. What's happening is that the washer is discharging faster than the pipe can take it; since the sink allows an "outlet" for the building pressure that's where the "extra...

Is it even legal to discharge the softener's backwash into the sewage line?

I can't see how a dehumidifier could have any affect at all.
Do you have a filter "downstream" from the pressure tank? If so, when did you last change the filter? If it's been more than 2 months,...

Additional follow-up:
When my old water softener broke down last month, I replaced it with one that has a higher flow rate using the Fleck 7000 valve. While I was plumbing in the new softener, I...

U. S. Steriles is a company that is based in India and the provider of the info I posted previously. U. S. Steriles has not established any overseas distribution so must ship Gramicid from India....

Feedback on peroxide:
Just as effective as bleach but doesn't last quite as long -- 9-10 odor free days with peroxide versus 13-14 with bleach.
Note: Strong bleach smell lasts for a day or two...

Thanks, Tom.
Based on those numbers -- and the appliances/fixtures that I have -- there should be no problem for me to go with a whole-house electric with a 4.5 GPM (at 55 degrees). The washing...
-
Yes, definitely. I've been leaning toward the gas unit simply because of the higher flow capacity. But an electric unit would cost quite a bit less -- enough less that I could put in a standalone...

Not Dave -- I jumped in on his thread assuming that he'd be facing the same issues as me.
We've got a 4-bedroom, 3-bath, 2-story house with 2 showers in one bath (total of 4 showers). None of the...

Tom,
Your endorsement of tankless water heaters means a lot to me. I'll soon be replacing my probably-13-year-old conventional gas water heater and plan to go tankless. But sorting through the...

Monday was "treatment day" and I tried the peroxide instead of the bleach. Worked fine and is MUCH better han dealing with the bleach smell in the shower. The real test is whether it keeps the colony...

Got one. Got it from them. It's the one in the water heater right now. Doesn't stop the Desulfovibrio from growing a new colony every 2 weeks. They like the PH of my soil and the high iron-content in...

LakeOzarksGal,
Excluding all the plumber visits and new water heater, your problem sounds like the one I'm fighting. After replacing the old anode rod (which had dissolved down to bare wire) I got...

Dealing with a foul odor from hot water (no problem with cold water) that coincided with installing a new anode rod in the water heater. (Original info here:...

With the assistance posted here I was able to remove the old anode rod from my water heater and install a new one. The old one was down to a steel wire -- I have no idea how long it was in there.

Finally got it done. That was NOT fun!
Did not have a big enough socket so I stayed with the pipe wrench.
Olive oil didn't work -- probably too thick to penetrate. WD40 did the trick but it...
-
Thanks.
I'm going to try some olive oil, "love taps" and patience first. (The WD40 should be no problem even if it gets into the tank -- I think the stuff is even edible.)
I've got a...

... from a hot water heater shouldn't be this tough? Is there some trick or tool that I need? I put a monkey wrench on it, put a pipe in the wrench and can't budge it; the water heater is rocking but...

For anyone reading this thread and looking for results:
Replaced pressure tank and switch with no problems. HUGE improvement.
The old switch was working fine and could have been "cranked up" to...

Switch is a Square D -- mounted upside down. Limits posted in the cover are 30 and 50 -- so I won't be tweaking the settings on this switch.
Air pressure in the tank is 44 PSI when the water...

Thanks Tom.
There is no gauge on my current pressure tank. I got the water pressure readings by watching the system gauge. I can check (and even change) the air pressure in the tank but don't...

13-year-old house with well & septic. A pipe in the incoming water line failed last fall and I made a temporary replacement; time for permanent repair now. While I'm at it, I want to increase water...
