Sounds like springtails. The decaying organic matter next to the house could attract them as well as any moisture in or around the basement.

This is for a shower only. I have a chance to buy a tub/shower kit (rough-in included) that matches the rest of the fixtures (delta victorian) for 1/4 of the price of a shower only in the same style....

Can I use a shower/tub rough in for a shower only. I would think I could just put a plug on the bottom of the valve where it goes down to the tub spout.
