Sorry to be so blunt... but that's the reality of it.

My assuption is its one that's subdivided and not one that's registered (meaning the city doesn't know about it and likely doesn't meet code).

They do have legal recourse against the landlord.....

You do know you are going to have to leave if you complain, because you couldn't continue to live in an illegal apartment... so you are in a no-win situation.

It really is a deal with it or move...
