I was wanting to put a frame type design on the lower portion of my 2 tone wall. I've seen in houses where it look like a board/panel was put onto the wall that had frame openings cut into it (thus...

I'll do the 30 - 36 inches for sure. I did it up in paintbrush and I think the light on top is better... now that I kind of see it in front of me...

ANother question - I've been sizing this up this week to start it. I was thinking of adding a third color which would be white for the casing and moldings to break up the other 2 colors.
Pretty...

I have ceramic tiles between the counter top and where the cabinets start in my kitchen. I think this is called the back wash?
I plan on changing the kitchen scheme in the near future, but...

Is there a standard height for the casing that goes around the wall? (the chair guard or whatever is the technical term... )
-
There might be *a* window in the picture, but not lots. Also a doorway. I'm going to see if I can find a link...

I have Home Depot and other similar flyers that have, say a dark burgundy on top and a soft cream colour on bottom - not sure how that is any different.
Lighting will be key, I'll be spending a...

I'm having the casing going around the mid height of the room, some call it a chair stop? Anyway, it will be a 2 tone room, chocolate brown and an off white-beige kind of colour.
I was going to...

Once you have your garage pad poured, how long do you have to wait before you start framing your garage?
Thanks,

Detached garage.
I was going to get my area cleared, pack down the ground and have the gravel delivered - but I was going to have it dumped in my cleared area. I guess I can spread it around and...

Hey fellas, getting close to starting this project and here is what I got listed so far.

After I cranked it to the max it came on and stayed on. Then I turned it down to normal range and it has worked through the night and all morning. Definitely going to check it out. Thanks guys!

My furnace is acting up. It's a natural gas unit.
We noticed that the temp dropped way below the set mark and after turning the thermostat all the way up the furnace kicked in, then kicks back...

No worries, had this installed in no time.
Cheers!

OPps, sorry. BUt I'm replacing my existing one so everything is there. Can't believe I never included that in my first post!
They're very similar in design just that this one is about 12 years...

Just bought a dishwasher at homedepot for a really good price, what's involved with installation as I'll be doing this myself.
Any pointers or a step by step?
Thanks,

I have an old turn dial dishwasher that doesn't clean dishes very well at all. You practically have to wash the dishes by hand before putting them in for them to be clean (you get where I'm going)

I already have purchased another plastic one. If this screws up down the road, I'll get the better one. I plan on getting on a regular maintenance schedule with this unit :)
-
The one on the right looks like I could thread that right on the end of my plastic valve and then just close it... any probs with that?
-
I'm just afraid of not being able to get all the pieces out. My boiler is close to the intake for the furnce, this valve is pointing towards the furnace and is close enough that I would have to try...
-
Ok that's fine but... how do I get the one in there out? I would have thought I'd have to use the same type of tap.
The rubber bushing inside the current one is messed up, wonder if I could just...

Ok, this is what frustrates me. My drain valve now doesn't close properly as of the weekend. Try as I might the thing is fubared. I can get it closed to the point that there is only a faint trickle...
-
Well, it certainly would be kind to keep this tank as far as my wallett goes. I've flushed this tank a couple of times. I had super low hot water pressure and resolved that. (outlet pipe was almost...

Looks like I'll be shopping for a new water heater soon. Very soon. My currrent water heater after calling the manufacturer has been installed in my house since 1994 that has a listed life...
-
ARGH. I can't get the f'n drain valve to close!! It's a stupid plastic type design and no matter how much I try loosening and tightening it won't close all the way. I have a faint trickle coming out....
-
Found the problem. The exit of the water heater was all but closed off from buildup. Shaved it away gradually and finally poked through. Ran tons of water through the water heater and into the drain....
-
Well I hooked up a hose to the drain and its FULL speed when I open it up. The pressure caught me off guard and it kind of went everywhere haha
I bought another valve and I'm going to install it...

My father and immediate family are buidling several houses in years to come, their just completing one now. He has asked me about framing nailers since he's still doing it the old fashion way and...

Yup. :) The standard 3 foot opening or whichever it is.

Currently our house has a Victorian style laminate floor in the Kitchen. The kitchen floor meets the carpet of the living room in a doorway.
I was was wondering if anyone has used a different type...

I replaced it, the water coming in from the outside source was steady and full stream. Put a nice new valve and the water is still low pressure for hot :(
-
Cmon speedball1 ! :)
I'm almost tempted to replace this whole apparatus
-
Here's a new pic so you can see what I'm doin:
-
NOw I'm confused. I took off the lever off after shutting off the outside source, put the lever in the closed position, took the lever off and there's just this stem sticking out where the lever...

Gotcha! K, I will try that this weekend! (got a washer to fix tonight!)

I had company at the house the last couple of weekends and was unable to do this repair. I have another question - that valve mechanism appears to have been soldered onto the pipe - do I just break...
-
Forgive my inexperience with this but, how would something in this apparatus cause low pressure on the hot water side? It's a different pipe - I would have though it was the hot water pipe exiting...
-
Here is the top of the tank - close the valve I have circled, then loosen the nut right below the valve, so I can then loosen the lower nut where the pipe enters the boiler? (I accidentally circled...
-
What's a step by step on what to do - very new to this.
So you're talking about the hot water exit that comes from the top of the boiler?
-
House was built in 94 - everything is up to spec and most likely the pipes aren't too small.
The previous owners noticed a decrease in pressure over the last few years. If you use a hotwater tap...
-
My hot water is fine though, gets very hot and is delivered fairly quickly. On one of the regular sink taps the hot water pressure if it's the only one being run is adequate. The second another tap...

I'm fairly handy but the whole gas/hot water thing intimidates me. I have a 10-12 year old Rheeem Ruud hotwater tank and my hot water be it hot - has horrible pressure from every faucet.
The...
