By pushing the wrong buttons . Right answer 3/0. Usually helps to push the right buttons! Sorry about that.

1/0 alum @ 100 amps @ 350' has a 5% voltage drop.
-
That label is telling you that when the pump is wired as a 240 volt motor it draws 9.5 amps. Usually changing motor voltage is very easy, sometimes just moving a plug inside the wiring compartment....
-
The easiest way is to use self grounding recpts. These have a metal clip on the screw that assures the continuity of the ground. ...
-
For you the right circuit is twenty amps. Two 20 amp circuits for the servers, each carrying a max of 14 amps, should be just right. Plus one for everything else. Loading a circuit up is a no-no. ...
-
You say that "several" of these units plus other stuff runs fine on a 20 amp line. Take a clamp on ammeter and determine what the actual load is. The computer assembler bought these power supplies...

Only one switch can be a dimmer, one has to be a regular switch.

Radio Shack $35. GE Hard Wire & Wall Mount Switch (Smart Remote Plus Compatible) : Wall Switch Kit | RadioShack.com
GE should be widely available.
-
Yes. As long as the capacitance is as least as large as the original. The fan is 120 volt so no problem there. Tolerances on these devices are routinely +/- 20%, for high quality caps, so go figure.
-
A loose ground wire is not going to affect delivery of power. I would guess there are additional loose wires at that receptacle. Best to replace the recpt as long as you have the box open.
-
All these measurements should be to the neutral.
-
This is called a "split receptacle". The upper and lower portions are separated by the removal of a small metal tab between them on the "hot" side. The upper and lower share the neutral, that tab is...

In 42 years of doing electrical work I have been asked ONCE to install the same brand breaker as the panel. Rather than have a long discussion , and educate the inspector, I did so.
There is a...

Welcome to jeopardy- you provide the question!

Largest is QOB3150VH 3 pole 150 amp. This takes up six spaces and should cost about $1,100. Yikes!
-
Most of the houses around here have wells. When replacing the ground wire to my daughter's well pipe I got a pretty good tingle from it, conductors in parallel.
-
The box with three wires concerns me. When you opened the box do you remember where the three wires were attached? I expect the box with two wires has one white and one black wire? If the wiring is...
-
No. The wires must be terminated in a box. Either add a "old work" box at the location of the old fixture and blank it. Or find the box which that cable comes from, disconnect the wires, and get them...
-
Forget about the clips. Drive drywall screws through the can into the surrounding material. Four to six 2" screws should be plenty. If you can catch a joist even better.
-
Sort of. Google "micro-cogeneration". Though not a boiler this may interest you. A gas powered engine spins a generator for electricity and the water used to cool it provides heat and hot water.
-
Recpt which are considered out of reach, garage door opener on the ceiling or dedicated to and behind a refrig for example, are exempt.
-
Is access now through a code legal stairway? If not you may find it tricky to add one without killing a lot of space on the floor below. I've been there.
A 60 amp panel will give you...
-
Generally- If the basement has a concrete slab floor, and the slab is in contact with the earth, all recpts are to be gfi. One gfi at the first box after the panel will do the job. Connect the...
-
The real savings will come from the replacement of incandescent lamps with cfl or led lamps and the replacement of low efficiency a/c and heating units. These two uses of energy are the bulk of use...
-
The thirty amp circuit questions- Zero recessed lights and zero outlets. Thirty amp branch circuits are not allowed for these uses in residences.

Need more information. Is this going to a single 3000 watt load? How is this being used?
-
Leviton 009-7070-pg maybe? On-on-on-off? Maybe not?
-
To determine if power is being fed to the box- If the box only has three wires in it, black white red, it has no "feed" and you have can't do this without adding a feed. If it has a three conductor...
-
HK's analysis sounds right. At each box with four conductors, tie the whites together, the blacks together using a wire nut and add a nice long tail ( 8" or so ) to make it easy to attach the recpt...
-
How many wires are in each box? The box which is working should have at least 2 black and 2 white wires for the next box to work. How many boxes only have 1 white and 1 black wire? Is the work...

This requires two 20 amp circuits for a trouble free installation.

#4 copper or #2 aluminum, the short answer.

This is called a 3 wire turn knob socket. The ones I've used turn on the top bulb, the "night light" or both together. Perhaps there is one for a 3 way bulb, but good luck on finding it. How old is...
-
You want to change the differential, which as I understand it, is not adjustable on this thermostat. However on the back there are two screws, or switches, which change the number of cycles permitted...
-
Turn off the breaker. Using an ohmmeter check the resistance of the element. If it is infinite the element is burned and it is time for a new element. Also these heaters have a safety to prevent...
-
Each lamp is switched. Are they normally all on? If not there is no reason to split the circuit. Even if they are all on they will not trip a 15 amp breaker as long as there is nothing else on the...
-
No if you wish to be code compliant. What is the load on the circuit? If a 15 amp breaker will be no problem change the breaker ( $4 ).
-
-20 c = - 4 f . Cold for sure.
-
If you normally put that much water in it may be that the leak is from the overflow. When you're not knocking the water around maybe the water is not exiting from the overflow. I had the same problem...
-
If you change the wire to number 12 it can have a 20 amp breaker. As to if it will be overloaded that is a function of what the load is. 20 amps at 120 volts is 2400 watts. Loads in excess of this...
-
If the new receptacle is connected to the load terminals of a gfi it is protected by that gfi. A standard outlet is okay.
-
Check the quality of the connections. If the neutral/ground is poor you'll get this situation. This is why the neutral is now separated from the ground. In effect the water pipe is becoming a...
-
It is possible that the water is condensate condensing inside the cold pipe in the attic. If the conduit comes into the ceiling box warm moist house air gets into the conduit and condenses. Walk in...
-
Why are you putting cable in conduit? Why not just use the cable?
-
Kitchen counter recpts are required to be on a 20 amp circuit. With a gfi if near a sink. Residential dishwashers may be on 15 amp circuit if its adequate. Likewise a dedicated line to a frig,...

If power factor is mentioned this is b.s. I recently opened one of these. It was riveted shut, cost $300. Inside were two $10 capacitors. The funny part is that these things, not at all surprisingly,...

USA dryers have 220 Volt heaters but 110 Volt motors, timers and bulbs, making them unusable in Europe.

A 100 amp service can supply an easy 20,000 watts. If you ever draw 15,000 I'd be amazed. Do a little adding up of what you think is possible and I think that the thing to do is change the panel, at...
