If I know anything about credit/debt collectors they will try anything to get you to payback at least some of your debt. Unfortunately for you they have little compassion.

Did you try transferring the balance to another credit card? It sounds like you are in a tough spot. Did you try getting a lower interest personal loan with your bank? I hope you get this solved...

I'm hoping that my GM credit card rewards all of sudden become worthless, I've been saving them up for over a year.

When you cash a check anywhere unless you are a member of the bank there is a cash checking fee.

I was surprised when I heard about this too. It sounds like all the issuers are now becoming banks. What a sham.

If people only spent what they could afford they wouldn't be in this problem. Credit cards aren't the deep down problem it's the way people spend. Although credit cards don't help the situation...
