The fan turns on right away but it takes several tries for the compressor? To turn. This has been a problem for a while. I replaced the capacitor last year and it fixed the problem for a while. I...

I hope to start the bathroom this weekend. Is the latest layout with the revised red drain lines acceptable?
Also, my questions are
1. I am assuming that tying into the main more than once is...

Is my latest layout acceptable?
-
I went to the local plumbing store. The fernco adapter they had was a 4"x4" or a 4.5" x 4". Both of them only had the skinny metal clamp. From other posts, I think most suggest to use the adapter...

For some reason my previous question didn't come in on a new time. Please see previous post with questions and revised layout (bottom image with red)
Thanks

Thanks - Milo
I purchased the DWV fittings (ouch for 4") and layed them out. I have realized that in trying to use the existing floor drain wye for everything doesn't really make sense, there...

Speedball
I have checked and AAVs are allowed.
I was asking on whether my original layout would work with using the 45s to make the turns to the toilet and sink and also adding the tub vent...
-
Speedball, thanks
Do you see any problems with my layout with a the corrections that milo suggested?
Another question, if I run a vent with an AAV at the tub and sink, should they be 1.5" or...
-
Would it be necessary to install a backwater check valve? My street drops way below my basement level within a couple hundred of my house so there would need to be a backup pretty close to my house.
-
Thanks, Milo.
If I use the 45's, AAV on sink and tub, do you see anythign else wrong with my layout?
-
Milo,
Is there a recommended or minimum distance between the 45's
-
Thanks, Milo.
If I vent the sink and tub with AAV's (It's allowed here and I have locations to put them where they will be accessable), will this layout function well?
-
I posted previoulsy about my basement bathroom layout and got some great help. We have since, re-layed out the fixtures. I have attached the revised layout and am asking if the drain layout I have...

Is there any problems with the "curves" in the runs of my initial sketch?
-
From reading even newer posts and questions, I don't see anything wrong with my initail sketch. Am I missing something?
THanks

Is there anything wrong with my initial sketch if I add a AAV to toilet or tub?
-
Thanks, I am in Grand Rapids, MI
I really did not want to cut into the san main that many times. Is there a way do use the exisitng floor drain wye (its a 4") similar to my initial sketch?
...
-
The San main runs right to left on this image with the wall on the top of the image being an exterior wall.
The main vertical stack is at the stub wall at the 3'8" dimension.
I don't really want...
-
Not exactly sure what this means but the wash tub was just angled by the toilet to show it would sneak between the toilet flange and the san main.
-
I am planning on using a AAV on the sink and from what I have read, the tub is usually wet vented from the sink. Would I need another AAV for the tub or toilet since the distance is large
Yes,...

I was thinking of just putting in a floor drain and eliminating the washer stand pipe, this would mimic my current situation. I would drain the laundry sink into the floor drain and the washer into...
-
Thanks for the great help.
One last question
There is only one drain line for washer and laundry sink. The other line is for the floor drain (if I use one). Could the floor drain come off from...

I am thinking of moving the basement laundry room and putting in a new bathroom. From reading all of the posts, I think I have a decent handle on what needs to be done. I have attached my proposed...

I am defininely below the manhole cover at the street near my house. My first floor level is pretty much level with the street. The street does go down a large hill approximately 400' feet away...
-
Thanks, I may go with that indirect drain idea. Am I correct in that I can run that to the laundry sink drain. Would have to tie in between the trap and the sink?
The last thing I want to confirm...
-
If I went with an indirect drain and condesantion pump I could drain that in the laundry sink drain and eliminate the floor drain, right? The question I would have is if the HW tank did rupture,...
-
Would you even recommend PEX over copper if the PEX was the Zurn PEX from Lowe's?
-
I meant rupture. The current layout has the existing floor drain 30 feet away. For any water from the T&P or in case of a rupture, the water would need to rise at least 1/2" to an inch in order to...
-
My house is all galvanized pipe. I do have 3/4" lines running from the hot water heater for the first 20 feet. I was planning on replacing the galvanized pipe from the end of the copper pipe to the...
-
I am thinking about using PEX lines for my new basement bathroom. Are there different grades of PEX and if so which should I use. Is the PEX that a Home Depot or Lowe's sell any good.
Thanks

The floor drain I have, I am relocating. I am using the existing floor drain to drain the new basement bathroom and laundry room. I am tying in the new 3" line for the toilet to that floor drain...

I am in Grand Rapids, MI. They said that I need a way for water to exit the basement in case the hot water heater ruptured. They said I would need either a floor drain or a surface crock. In new...

If I vented to the kitchen sink waste line, I would come in on the top of the waste line.
I have to put in the floor drain per code, which way should I tie in the drain line?
-
Thanks - I removed some of the basement ceiling and the kitchen waste runs almost directly over where my toilet will be. Can I run a vent line to that line so it will be vented through the kitchen,...
-
Thanks, if I reconnect into the main, I will make sure toconnect above any waste lines.
Would venting the toilet by itself with its own AAV instead of venting through the lavatory sink help the...
-
Thanks - one last clarification. If my vent line ties back into the main waste stack, it will definitley be 6" above the highest flood level of the basement fixtures. Since my upstairs fixtures...
-
Thanks for the answer. I am assuming I would need to vent at the lavatory for itself, the tub, and the toilet. Can I vent it near the lavatory or is that to far away from the tub and toilet?

I am reposting since my original already moved to the 3rd page
