    FAFSA and Pregnancy
I just found out I am pregnant and due 09/20/09, amd a freshman now and living on campus. Its time to fill out the FAFSA again, I feel I would have a better chance on the amount of funding and grants if I file on my own instead of my parents. I will probably switch over to a junior college and of course will miss the first semester of my sophomore year because Im due right after the start of school. Can I file my own FAFSA or do my parents file for me? I don't really live there now, on breaks I go back and forth between my boyfriends parents and my mom and step dad, and my dad and step-mom. I hear different things about if I can or not... what is the real Rule on this??

Check out your FAFSA paperwork. You will fill out a questionnaire to determine if you can be considered independent of your parents. You might be able to just from age alone... but if you will be providing the bulk of your child's care in the year, you can for that reason as well.
