    Find my 401k
I worked from 1975 through 1985 with the Kerr Glass Co (American National Can) in Millville, New Jersey. I moved to Tampa, Fl in 1985 been employee with the Postal Service since. I am looking forward to retire within a year or two. I found out that after I came to Tampa, a few years later Kerr Glass Co went bankrupt and close down. I will like to know what happened to my retirement
(401k) or any other pension plans that I had with the company. I had check the government of New Jersey offices but they did not have records of any, information. I have not contact the union (Glass Blower Association) because I don't know a telephone number or e-mail that I could use to reach them. It seem that I have lost 10 years of work retirement somewhere. PLEASE help!

401K plans didn't exist in 1975. And for the most part of the years after they were created... unless you actively JOINED and contributed to a 401K plan then you don't have one.

A 401K is not the same as a defined pension plan through an employer (rare these days) or Union. And thus getting information will take different tactics and questions.

401K plans are managed through financial management organisations... not the employer themselves and may charge from time to time.

    Contact Bankruptcy Court and ask.

Kerr Glass is now Kerr Group - http://www.fundinguniverse.com/compa...p-inc-history/.

And Smoothy, as always, makes an excellent point.

Regarding pension issues - I suggest you contact the Labor Dept's Employee Benefits Security Administration as they're responsible for safeguarding employees' pension if a company goes bankrupt. See:
