' I want to know on average, how many ads there are in Magazines'

This is like asking how many books are in libraries, or how many seagulls are on the ocean shores. There are too many magazines all over the world, some with no ads, some with tons of ads, and what possible good will it do to know an average, or even a range or other statistic? Plus magazines (printed on paper) are going out of business rapidly as the internet takes over.

I understand all of that. Exactly why I need that information. Social media is taking over and it’s a huge market for companies to advertise. The number doesn't have to be completely accurate but a broad estimate of popular magazines would be appreciated. There is someone out there who has done some sort of study on this.

I suspect your primary data will be grossly out of date and unnecessary. I am on a number of web sites as a regular member. For instance, if I Google "Betty Crocker's Brownie Mix," bingo bango, it shows up as an ad on many of the sites I go on. (Thank you, Google and Yahoo, for taking such good care of me.) The Internet is full of ads -- and especially ads for products it knows you have searched for or have used. The advertising that's online is so much more individualized than it is in print matter.

Case in point -- I had earlier this evening been looking up something on eBay. Guess what ad was right below this post.

I have collected many responses about where people see most of their ads and its usually either on TV or the internet. The purpose of me asking for an estimated ad count is to show a target market in advertising. My data is showing that 100% of people don't see most ads in the paper or magazines. That is all I'm getting at.

This is a world site. There are countless magazines in the world. If you find someone who is familiar with all of them, I doubt they frequent this site. And again I think it will be a meaningless number, given the range from 0 to who knows how many. A literary journal may have zero. Some scholarly/science magazines have zero. Fashion magazines strike me as having the most, such as Vogue. They are almost nothing but ads.
I don't understand what 'to show a target market' has to do with a vast generalization about numbers of ads in all the world's magazines. If you pick a type of magazine, your statistics might be meaningful.
And (also again), whatever data you come up with will be old tomorrow. Change is happening too quickly.
I and many won't answer your question form because I have been burned on this site once and got a worm. Sorry.
I respond to an ad online about once every 3 months, and I am online all day, every day, so I ignore thousands during those 3 months.
I get one magazine, WIRED (pay $20/yr even though it's free online). I do read some of the ads. I don't think I have ever bought from one.

Exactly! A target market would be --

Younger men -- sporty cars, beer & wine & hard liquor, clothes, ads related to sports

Older men -- high-end luxury cars, alcoholic drinks, clothes, ads related to sports

Older people -- retirement communities, cemeteries, funeral homes, vacation resorts, hygiene products, medical miracle solutions, anti-aging products

Writers -- workshops, colleges with writing majors, writing colonies, writing materials, subsidy presses

The magazines that appeal to the above groups will feature those kinds of ads listed. You won't find an ad for a retirement community in a writers' magazine or for a cemetery in a young men's magazine..
