OK so I like this guy, and he likes me but we are in a band together (he sings I play drums) with some other friends I've asked him out and we almost dated but he said it wouldn't work out because we are in a band ):

Keep it strictly business with the band and give yourself some time to get unstuck off someone that's not as stuck on you.

If you both really like each other it shouldn't matter if your in a band or not. But one question are you both really close friends?

Well, I would not push the issue or you will push him away. Just let things flow naturally and maybe he will realize it does not matter. Just remember that if you do go out and break up, chances are, the band very well will break up,too. Good luck!
