I broke up with my boyfriend because the relationship was abusive and unhealthy but I
I broke up with my boyfriend of 10 years because the relationship had become very unhealthy for me to keep going on with it, but I said something that wasn't true that I know hurt him really bad that I know he took to the heart so I believe that its really and truly over I said something to hurt him because of things that he said that hurt me now I feel really bad I don't think we need to get back together I just want him to know that I didn't mean none of the hurtful things that I said but I don't want him to think that I'm trying to get back with him either... I also don't no if he ever wants to hear from me again or if he will accept my apology... a reminder to all the tongue is like a razor and it does cut be careful what you say.

I do normally control my tongue regardless of how angry I am, but it is an acquired skill. There is no need to apologize just so that you feel better about yourself for being selfish enough to hurt him emotionally, the damage is done, he will get over it in time. Respect him, the break up, go no contact, and move on. There is nothing you need to do except continue with the break up. Next time, be more mindful of other people's feelings so that you don't do this to someone else and yourself again.

Thanks for the advice but one thing I have never been in the 10 years I was with him was selfish. I was hurt by things he said to me during the break up argument, so I just said something to hurt him back. But your right he will get over it and I am moving on and I will be more mindful of my mates feelings in my next relationship...
