Is a break good for my girlfriend and I?
 My girlfriend and I have been going out for a year and a half and we just decided two days ago to take a break. The break is set to end in two weeks and the reason we taking a break is to add passion. Is this a good idea and what should I do?

A break?? I always never like breaks... Breaks sometimes can end up in break ups... I mean you could have stayed together and just did things apart... give each other some space and putting time frames on a breaking my opinion is silly
... This is my opinion and by no means I am not saying it doesn't work for some. Who idea was it, I know you may have agreed, but who initiated the break first. Passion doesn't come from breaks it comes from closeness... that is something that could have been discussed and worked out, without a break.. So for me I don't really get breaks... and most of the time when people post things about breaks its usually because the other person wants to see what they are missing.. Not saying that this is your situation... anyway that is my opinion on breaks... The word break when you think of it is never really good,
Heartbreak,
Break-up
Break down... You see my point.

1. The passion died after a year and a half? Uh oh.
2. jolie noire's absolutely right in that breaks... rarely work out well. For some couples, it works wonders... but from the looks of it, it sounds like the break is just a "ease into" method for a breakup... especially the whole "we'll meet up in 2 weeks and see where we are."
I'm not always right... I hope I'm wrong... but it just kind of seems like this is what might happen:
1. you two get back together in 2 weeks...
2. you guys either first get physical and lovey dovey due to missing one another... or you go straight to #3
3. you guys sit down to have a talk
4. A) one of you have found someone else already
4. B) one of you guys bring up the "yeah...maybe a bit longer..."
4. C) one of you guys realize that being single's better
4. D) you guys realize you two can't live without one another... and get back together... happy ending.
I'm hoping for 4D... but... again... you never know. Best wishes. Prove me wrong.

A brake can be great for your relationship, but I suggest the you don't put a time limit on it. Just take it slow, my partner and I recently split after 3 years he left and said it was over for good, the first few days I felt miserable, but after about a week I was loving being single it was then he started to come around after two weeks of being apart he told me he didn't want to lose me and we started seeing each other often after two and a half weeks he moved back in and everything has been great since, but I think if you put a time limit on it, it will only cause pressure, let it be and see what happens you may grow apart or realize your meant to be but remember things happen for a reason!
