    So do you get any solace from.
    The fact that you truly did EVERYTHING you could to work though/on/for/fix the relationship..? I do get some peace in knowing that I tried my very best. (I don't think he can say that! )

    I think it's empowering to know that you can look yourself in the face and say that you gave your all. And in that giving so much... we feel the pain in its fullness as well. (That's the sucky part! )

    I got a lot from another poster (I Sneeze, I think)... that said "When you can look back and see that you did your part right....your 50% of the relationship right....that will give you the satisfaction you need." (I'm paraphrasing here... but you get the point.) Once you can conclude that you are only responsible for what you are in control of, there is some resolve.

    I know that I couldn't have done anything more or different... even in the breakup... The rest is truly up to whatever is meant to be... the Universe... God...

    Any thoughts on this? It's nice to find SOME peace in all of this. (Wish it would just last now! )

    The Serenity Prayer

    God grant me the serenity
    to accept the things I cannot change;
    courage to change the things I can;
    and wisdom to know the difference.
    Living one day at a time;
    Enjoying one moment at a time;
    Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
    Taking, as He did, this sinful world
    as it is, not as I would have it;
    Trusting that He will make all things right
    if I surrender to His Will;
    That I may be reasonably happy in this life
    and supremely happy with Him
    Forever in the next.

    Amen.

    For me I don't think I did my 50% right. I tried the best way I knew how, did as much as I could when I could. But looking back I could have done more, and things different. But those are mistakes I learn from, and hopefully won't make again. I get solace from the fact that I may not have been perfect, I may have made mistakes. But I tried and I never gave up on her because she wasn't perfect. :)

    She can't say the same.
