All through my life the people that I love has lied to me. I found a person that I love and that truly loves me and I lie to him about the stupidest things, mainly because I feel that if I tell him the truth he will leave me. How do I stop doing what I was showed and start doing what I know is the right thing to do?

This is just my opinion. But, I think that most people lie because they are afraid, period. They are afraid of someone finding out about a wrong that has been committed by themselves or someone else. Do you lie for either of the reasons that I have just mentioned? I would suspect not.

I also think that you have been taught to lie by the examples that you have been shown.

I don't really believe that you have any reason to lie and to fear telling the truth about things.

I would suggest stating the truth and see what happens. I know that you will be pleasantly surprised! You don't have to be afraid. Please don't be. Like anything else, it just takes practice to learn how to do what you know is right and correct in your heart in spite of the examples that you have been shown. After awhile of practising this, it will just become a part of you as the way to be and you will forget about doing it the other way.

You can do this! Just start doing it! I know that you can!

If you continue to lie, you will be caught eventually. Use the thought of losing your special someone as motivation to stop the lies now while you can. I came out of a relationship filled with lies, and it really did hurt. You start to ask yourself why would they lie about something so small, and then you start thinking about bigger things they probably lied to you about.

If you want the relationship to last, truth and honesty need to be the foundation of it. Fix it while you still can!
