Should I give up on him coming back to me?
My boyfriend of 7 years broke up with me 18 months ago because I wanted to take our relationship to the next level... he freaked and said that scares him to death... we text and talked on the phone for the first 7 months.. and we would be OK until I asked about our relationship.. then he would get angry and tell me to stop pushing him... we the of course would argue.. he seemed to have a different excuse for why we couldn't be together (right then )... so I stopped all contact... then 3 months later he text me in the middle of the night ( drinking) we text joking and cutting up for several hours... of course that gave me hope again and I was smiling again... but nothing until the next wkend.. again text (drinking) I told him he had to stop because I couldn't be his late night after the party text buddy... he replies.. thats the saddest text I have ever got... the next day I text him that I felt like I was losing my best friend all over again... he replied.. dont feel like that,you're not!. So for about 2 months we randamly text each other silly little things, then I mentioned our relationship and he freaked again! No contact again,this time for about 3 months and I text him to confront that he was seen with a woman... and he replied.. we aren't doing any thing , we just kind of hang out! Later I found out she is a 53 yr old woman whom he always claimed he couldn't stand to be around, she (also an alcoholic) is loud, rude,and very free with herself when drinking... she has a very bad reputation in our small town! So I asked him to give me closure... all he would text is we just need to leave it alone! So I have... now 2 1/2 months later the only thing I have heard from him is when he text my grandson ( that lives with me ) trying to find out things... like, where we moved and who went on vacation with us Etc. He is 48 and is an alcoholic... he is doing several things out of is normal character.. Is he in a midlife crises? Should I be understanding and patient or throw in the towel and give up on us getting our relationship back? I know he loves me and my grandson very much and I love him and want him back , but when is enough enough? He is now with this girl every weekend and is planning a mini trip with her to go meet his sister and she has met his mom... Im not sure that this could be just a friend!! Some of his friends are burned out on the bar thing and have walked away from him... but he wants to party right now and some believe he hangs with her because she is a party buddy... I don't know.. what am I to do??
