I could just let this go. It's just weird. My niece is her niece. Although my ex doesn't seem to be making any effort, I'm under the impression (from her sister) that I'm in the wrong. I don't really agree, but I don't care enough to argue at this point. I'm just looking down the road a bit. Or is this better left alone?

Well a letter to her? Yes. Or why not an apology. I mean I haven't followed your posts or anything but from what you just posted here you said you never fell for her depression. Now you have experienced it yourself. How's it feel? I guess I kind of feel bad for her. She needed you there for her and you weren't. Your post even seems cold. I am not at all trying to be mean, that's just how I am reading it. Please don't let me offend you. But I do think a letter to her would be a great idea. I don't know how she will react to it but at least an apology for not understanding her when she was in depression might help a bit.

Well perhaps you should read my first few posts. Without resurrecting a dead issue, I got burned in the end. Maybe I wasn't understanding enough, but the stuff she pulled at the end was disrespectful and uncalled for. I'm pretty sure I was more heartbroken over that break up.

Well I hope your OK now anyway.
Since with your brother and sisters being married why not touch base through them and let her know you want to talk to her. Have you ever thought of face to face so she can see you being sincere.

I don't think that's a good idea. A letter can communicate my sympathies and best wishes without games and rejection. She can do as she wishes with a letter. I'll expect nothing. I may expect something in person, I don't know.

I hope it goes well for you. If anything you have a sort of closure to that part of the relationship writing the letter. No matter how she takes it at least you took that step and wrote it.
