Hello. Me and my girlfriend have been dating for 7 months. Yesterday she told me she wanted to break up or at least a break. I pushed for the break and she said okay. We talked that night a little through texting because she said she doesn't want to hear me cry on the phone because it hurts her too much.

She said she misses being alone and isn't interested in anyone else and not to worry, and a relationship is too stressful. Then we said goodnight and went to bed. I told her how much I was crying and missed her that night and loved her.

But then I stayed strong this morning and told her, if we are taking a break, we need to do it right and set rules, no talking. How can she miss me and know what she had if I'm not gone and talking to her, you know? We agreed to say goodnight to each other tonight, and that is in 30 min to an hour from now.

How should I say it? Should I say I miss her, or be strong and tell her I'm doing fine? I don't want to mess this up. I feel like if I tell her I'm fine and lie, she will think I'm a jerk, or didn't/don't really love her, etc. And if I tell her I miss her and it was hard today, then she might not miss me because I'm still there comforting her, except physically, so we will just eventually drift. But if I act tough and keep saying I'm fine, she might drift away because she doesn't think I'm the sweet guy she fell in love with.

I don't know what to do. She wanted to break up 3 months ago but I cried and begged her, very pathetic, because she isn't like any other girl I've met. She might have stayed because she felt bad. But when I'm with her I feel a deep connection, and she tells me she does too. Please help :( Thank you.

Say good night and nothing else, then disappear for a while and see what happens. Most of your problem is your flair for the dramatic.

Thanks talaniman, I haven't talked to her all day today even though it was hard and I'll keep it up and see how it goes.

I think you should tell her how you really feel and if u really love her just respect her wishes and let her go... but that's just me
