2500 miles and scared to ask.
Ok so I have been fighting with myself over this subject for a year now. I dated this girl back in 9th grade and we have been best friends since 5th grade. We lived in the same city while we were dating and then she moved to Hawaii. I left with her familt to Hawaii my freshmen year and lived with her for a year there (still dating). After that year I had to leave and we had to break up. We are both 20 now and I don't feel like I can be with anyone else but her. We still talk at least 3 times a week and it feels like we still have the same relationship we did when we were kids. I want to tell her how I feel and see if she feels the same way also. I just don't want her to say no or feel in any awkward place. She wants to move back to our hometown and she is coming back (to go on a road trip with me) for the summer. I just don't want to wait to long and then she finds someone else. And I don't want to ask too soon in case I'm not ready for that serious relationship which could lead to having a wife... so I just need some advice. What is the best way to ask her without making it awkward and without getting to serious cause I have no idea...

    Hi, confuzeled!

Well, you do want to know, and perhaps she might be thinking the same way about you and also being afraid to ask.

How about presenting it to her in a way like you have a challenge in your life and that she is the one who can help you with your challenge and would she please help you? Of course she'll say yes, especially since you've been such great buds together for so many years. You can ask her then if she thinks that there may be some possibilities for the two of you in the long term down the road.

You don't have to use a lot of words in what you ask. Best not to be laying a heavy on her... Doing that might put her in a corner.

Have you ever told her that you love her?

    Thanks!

Keep it simple, and ask her if she can handle a relationship for the future with you.
