    Washington State lease
My boyfriend and I are both on the lease. We have until April 09 when the lease is up. My question is I am wanting to move out and he is saying I need to stay until the lease is up or would have to pay him rent if I left. I have NEVER paid a dime of rent since living there all I paid was a $250 pet deposit when we moved in for my dog. Can I legally move out without having to pay rent there and somewhere else? And if I move and take the dog could I ask for the pet deposit back? Please help I can't stay in this relationship any longer.

    Thanks

    Hello 8:

Your personal problems aren't the landlords problems. You both are on the lease and he can collect from either or both of you - whomever he chooses to go after if he's not paid. If YOU move before the lease is up, you boyfriend can sue you for your half of the rent. Plus, I don't think the landlord is going to give you back your pet deposit - at least not until the lease is up, and I don't think he'll forgive any rent. But, you can certainly ask.
