    Tenant rights to heat Philadelphia

    Hi... Am currently living in an apartment in Philadelphia where the heat is included in the rent. As of today, Oct 27, the heat has only been put on once for about 10 minutes. What does the local law have to say about this?!

    I'm pretty sure that if your heat is included in your rent, you should be able to use the heat whenever you want. Look in your tenants handbook (you should have gotten one) and your lease to find out. If you didn't get one, I'm sure you could call a local courthouse and get a handbook.

    Hello Rut:

    There is a uniform code law that all states have accepted. It concerns "habitability". You are guaranteed a home that is habitable. A cold home isn't.

    Write your landlord a letter. Tell him of the "warrantee of habitability" and ask him to adjust your thermostat or you will be forced to vacate and you will sue him for unlawful eviction. Send the letter certified, return receipt requested.

    Hi I'm rent a 2rd floor where the heat have not been work for two monthlys now and the londland will not fex it so what should I do?
