    Tenant in Common Vesting
I read your article with interest. I am a senior citizen on a low, fixed income, a CHP widow's pension. I have looked into my mother's assets. Her home's deed is vested:
Her Name, Tenant-in-Common, and Her Grand daugher's Name, Joint Tenancy. There is no percentages written in the vesting.

Do I understand correctly that upon my 101 year-old-mother's death, her ownership in the house will pass to her children? She does not have a will.

I hope you will be able to help me with this question.

It sounds like someone made a mistake when the deed was prepared. The ownership can't be tenants in common and joint tenancy at the same time. It has to be one or the other.

I suggest that you take a copy of the deed to a title company or real estate attorney to find out exactly what's going on.
