Return of Security Deposit in Florida
I live in Florida. I recently moved from a rental property. After the walk through, the property manager, not the landlord, stated the only things that needed to be done were a hole in one interior door and some touch up paint. When my landlord sent the security deposit and itemized list of what he charged for, he had charged $250 for touch up paint. I know that I had hung some pictures on the wall and there were less than 10 nail holes. When I spoke with the property manager he stated the $250 was what he charged the landlord to patch the holes and touch up the paint to match. $250 seems ridiculous to touch up paint on a few holes in the walls. The entire house is less than 1000 square foot and would barely cost $250 to repaint entirely! What would be a reasonable amount to charge for this touch up paint?

You are looking at this as just for the cost of paint. You have to take into account prep, labor , cleanup and color matching. I don't think $250 is that far out of line. If you wetre to fight this in court I think you would lose.

Yes, you are thinking as if you were to paint it yourself ( maybe you should have?) but a contractor is not even going to show up to do the work on a rental unit for under 100, and some normal touch up, no that is not that for out of line.
