My daughter rented an apartment. She moved out before lease and left a mess. I co-signed. How responsible am I? Will this affect my credit if I don't pay off her debt?

    Hello:

What she owes - you owe. That's what co-signing means. This will effect your credit if they hire a collection agency and if they sue you. I'll bet they're going to do just that.

    Hello,
Will they go after her first and if they can't get anything from her will they then go for me or are we on there together? My daughter got a letter but nowhere is my name on it.

    Hello excon
Will they go after her first and if they can't get anything from her will they then go for me or are we on there together? My daughter got a letter but nowhere is my name on it. Or should I just start paying before collection agency is involved?

    Hello again:

What are you waiting for? One of the two of you owe it. If she's not going to pay it, you're going to have to.

By the way, how are you going to know when just before a collection agency is involved? NOW is before a collection agency is involved.
