My divorce has been finalized for about 18 mo. In the divorce aggrement my ex signed a quit claim agreement to the house we bought together. There is a lien on the house only if I sell. Both names are still on the house. He would like his name removed so he can buy another house. How do I do this and would it involve an attorney or review by the mortgage company?

As we already noted, the quit claim deed makes no difference about the mortgage, unless you refinance both names stay on the mortgage.

First it is not a good idea yo piggyback your question on someone eles's thread even if similar. This tends to cause confusion. So I moved your question to its own thread.

As Chuck said To get his name off the mortgage you have to refinance. Also the quitclaim deed may not have been filed legally if the mortgage holder didn't approve of it. But if there is a lien on the house then it will have to be satisfied in the refi.
