    I need out
    Hi,
I hope that someone can help me. I co-signed a lease for a house with my father about 6 months ago. We had agreed that I would pay all of the utilities elec/cable/water/ect and if that did not add up to half of the total living cost I would pay an additional 100 towards the rent (700/mo). Since moving in there has only been 1 month (After a rather large fight between us that almost resulted in the police being called) that he actually paid the full amount he was supposed to. I have been paying the difference considering neither I, nor my mentally ill brother want to live on the street. Lately though my father has been paying less and less and I don't think I can keep on making up the difference. I want out! Is there any way at all that I could get out of the lease without negative things on my record...

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Thomas

If you walk away your dad is stuck with full payments and could sue you. Would he? You could always ask the LL to release you, you could be the very first person to get out of a contract
