    Landlords providing heat
In the state of Virginia, does the landlord legally have to provide heat? If they do NOT, what action can be taken by the tenant?

Is it in the rental agreement? If it's a home/trailer I would think not -- apartments no clue here.

Apartments with boilers usually contain a clause in the lease that states that the landlord pays the heat. When an apartment or single family home has a separate furnace, the landlord usually specifies that the tenant pays the heat. If the residence in a double, and there is only one furnace that controls the total house, the landlord usually pays the heat but sometimes makes arrangements with the tenants to share the expense. Is this a single family home? A double? Or an apartment with its own furnace? Have you reviewed your lease agreement?
