Landlord problems
:(
I am moving out of my house on oct 4th and I gave him a written 30 days notice and I ask him that I want someone else to go through the house with me just to make sure everything is OK with the house and he said it is OK with him but he want me to pay him rent for that month that I am moving out. I am going to be there for a few day and I am out so what should I tell him or can you give me a tentants right website that I could go to and print it out and show it to him.
Thanks rmiaken:)

If your lease ends on the last day of September you need to be out on or before that date. If you gave 30 days notice on Setptember 4th you are them committed for October rent. Please tell us more about your lease dates and how long the original lease was for.

If you are month to month, from the 1st to the 30th or 31st, and you are not moving until the 4th, yes, your landlord in most States can charge you for the entire month of October.
He cannot rent the apartment as of the 1st (as you will still be there) and shouldn't have to lose the month's rent.
What State?
Please don't post the same question twice.

Then you have to be out at the end of September. A four day holdover equals rent for the month of October.

In PA I don't think it matters - you cannot change a month to month tenancy unless it's changed in writing. Giving notice from, for example, the 4th to the 4th, doesn't change the tenancy which appears to be from the 1st to the 30th (or 31st).
Same in NYS. I know - tenants come up with this idea all the time, give notice on the 10th that they are leaving on the 10th of the following month, even though they rent from the 1st to the end of the month. Doesn't work that way.
