    Evicting a family member
My dad, brother & I leave in the same house we have a cousin how moved in on a temporary basis, she doesn't pay rent, she will not lift a finger to help clean the house my father is 74yrs old and still is picking up after her, when I asked her to help me clean the house when I was on crutches after a serious spider bite that almost killed me she replied "NO I DIDNT MAKE THE MESS" I tried to explain to her how my dad is old and its our turn to take care of him, that his days of taken care of us is over, she will not pick up for anybody else, my dad tried to explain to her that she needs to help out around the house all she does is watch TV all day and yells at her kid and gets money from the government (must be nice) me & my brother both work. My dad told her just help. My younger brother and her got into a fight she called the police had my brother arrested on false accusations, she went as far as getting a restraining order against him so he couldn't come back to his own home. My dad told her to leave he can't handle this violence he's too old she told my dad " IM NOT GOING ANYWHERE" she doesn't pick up after her kid.
Im 43yrs old divorced came back home to take care of my dad, and ill be damned if she is going to disrespect my father and to top it off her boyfriend stays here rent free also won't lift a finger to throw the trash, mow the lawn etc to help out my dad, he has a job he makes 1200 every two weeks. She is a trouble maker and is always yelling what can we do? Retired & tired in California

    Hello karina:

Whoever owns the house will have to evict your cousin and her boyfriend according to your states landlord tenant laws. You can find a copy right here at the top of the page on a sticky note.

In the alternative, you can hire a lawyer.
