    Cleansing a Celtic Cross to my use.
    I went shopping with my daughter a couple of weeks ago, and we happened to go into a "Sanford and Son" styled junk shop that recently opened in our area. Among the items offered for sale was a silver Celtic Cross pendant with no chain - and when my daughter picked it up, she got an almost physical shock from it. Without telling me about the energy she felt, she handed the small box containing the cross to me - and chuckled when I also felt the "shock" so strong I almost dropped the box. As I examined the cross closer, I noted that it is decorated with three triquetras on the upper "arms" and, on the longer base "arm", a triquetra that extends up in a celtic knot. The Circle portion of the cross has wavy lines that remind one of water. Of course, between the very Wiccan design and the strong psychic energy it gave off, I brought it home, put it on a silver chain, and tried to wear it.

    Unfortunately, it seems the energy I felt may have been negative energy, as wearing the cross seemed to enhance any negativity I was feeling to an almost unbearable level while positive feelings made me feel sick to my stomach. I took the cross off and put it in my wallet until I could get home to cleanse it, but I had missed the full moon by two days, so although the feelings were a little milder after an overnight hanging in the moonlight, I still felt the negative energy stronger than the positive when trying to wear it the next day.

    While camping out in a primitive campsite over the 4th of July, I tried an alternate method of cleansing that should have called to the three elements of the triquetra: Earth, Water and Fire. Since it was rainging heavily, I was able to make a mud poultice out of gravel and rubbed it liberally into the cross, then I went to the brook we were camping next to and rinsed off the mud in the cold water (slipping and dousing myself in the process... :p). Just as I was walking back around to the front of the camper, the sun came out, so I hung the cross from a tree in the direct light of the sun.

    Although this cleansing has seemed to help, there is still a slight hint of negative energy to the cross, and since there isn't another full moon until the end of the month, I'm just looking for any other hints anyone has on how to cleanse this cross so that I can wear it without feeling like I'm going to vomit every time my boss sends negative energy my way...

    This is going to sound really odd to the unitiated but I am going to give you a recipe for SMUDGING. I think that is what you were trying to accomplish when you smeared mud on the celtic cross to remove negative energy. And just as an after-thought, the negative energy may not have been coming from the celtic cross because in actual fact, they just cannot absorb negativity because of their true source.

    Here is the SMUDGE recipe and you can use this for anything, your hosue, your furniture, yourself, inaminate objects such as jewellery:

    About Smudge Sticks
    Using a smudging tool is part of many Native American traditions. The burning of herbs for emotional, psychic, and spiritual purification is also common practice among many religious, healing, and spiritual groups. The ritual of smudging can be defined as "spiritual house cleaning." In theory, the smoke attaches itself to negative energy and as the smoke clears it takes the negative energy with it, releasing it into another space where it will be regenerated into positive energy.

    Common Herbs Used in Smudge Sticks

    * Sage / White Sage
    * Cedar / Pine
    * Lavender
    * Sweet Grass
    * Mugwort
    * Copal

    I believe the smudge stick should be a large feather, but from a bird that has been killed. Probably a good source would be a park where there are geese around. I don't think you would want to take one from a live bird though !

    Let me know how this works out. And if it doesn't work on the cross, then the negativity is coming from within you, so you would have to have a good smudging too. Please don't take this personally.

    Good luck and peace
