Why isn't the outside fan on my heat pump working?
The a/c works fine. I keep it set at 76/cool/auto. The fan works.
When I turn on the heat I hear the fan outside kick on then immediately turn off. It does not turn. The fan (blower) inside the house comes on when I turn on the heat. It never shuts off. I feel some air blowing out of the inside vents. The thermostat temp. is always set to 64 and the temp of the house is 64. I can turn the system off and on.
    So I've got:
a/c on, fan/auto= the fan works
    heat/on, fan/auto= no fan
    heat/on, fan/on= no fan
    emergency heat/on= no fan
    Breakers are OK. New filter.
System: Trane heat pump model WCH024C100A and a Honeywell non-programmable digital thermostat TH5220D10, all electric, installed 2007
