I just got off the pill, am I pregnant?
    Hello,:)

My husband and I recently decided to have a baby. I have been on the
Pill for 5 years. I stopped taking the pill just before I got my last period
Which was on Nov 7th. And I haven't a period since then, It has almost
Been a month since I should have had it. I have taken 2 at home
Pregnancy tests and they both come back negative. I also took a blood test
And it said negative. My ob/gyn said that I may not have enough hormones
To make the test positive yet. I have had a lot of symptoms like, sore
Nipples, nautious, and I have been very exhausted. Do you think I could
    Be pregnant??

Start taking prenatal vitamins if you aren't already. Go to the doctor and get them to give you an ultrasound. Explain to them your situation and have this done. Keep us informed.

    Hi,
    You have all the symptoms!
But, your doctor said it would take a little longer to be positive.

Now that your off the pill, your body is trying to regulate itself afterwards. It may take your body some time before you ovulate and menstruate regularly. Birth control pills prvent prevent ovulation by suppressing the levels of some of your body's hormones while sustaining the levels of others. When you go off the pill, your body will need time to re-start its own hormone production and get back into a natural rhythm. This may take between 1 and 3 months. If you're concerned your period is taking too long to regulate you may want to consult with your healthcare professional.

I stopped the pill in October 1975, had sporadic periods for a while, and did not get pregnant until Jan 1976, so it can happen right away, or might take a while. What your doctor said is as accurate as can be put and also the other advice from my fellow forum friends, so please don't worry. Just relax and give yourself time - and most of all don't be anxious if it does not happen yesterday. We are all different - and if you have some symptoms, it just might be that you are, but the tests don't show anything yet.
Lots of luck, and please keep us posted.
