How to start a new thread
I went to the doctor Tuesday for the first time after having strong stomach cramps and severe headaches... along with morning sickness. They said according to the ultrasound I was 4 weeks and 5 days. They wanted to repeat my quan. HCG and check my RH levels. I got a call late Friday afternoon that said my hcg was 1800 on tues and on thurs it was 8000. I was also told that I was RH negative and would need to be given a shot. I had an appointment for 2 weeks already scheduled. The nurse said that the doctor wanted to see me first thing Monday morning to complete an ultrasound. She then told me I needed to take it easy over the weekend and if I had any cramping worse than menstrual cramps or bleeding I should go immediately to the ER. She finished by saying "hopefully everything will be ok until Monday". I ask if everything was OK and she said yes.

I'm very concerned. I've read that Hcg levels should double every 48 hours. My number increased 6 times. Could this mean I may be pregnant with twins? If it's a single baby should I be concerned something is wrong. I can not sleep worrying about this.

At 4 weeks and 5 days the norm for HCG is approximately 1,000 - 30,000, so you are in the right range for a pregnancy at your gestation.

You can rest easy, sounds like everything is right on track.

Yes, twins is one possible reason for the higher numbers, but they will want to check that things are developing as they should be as more can be seen at the later ultrasound.

Thanks so much... the large increase in 48 hours had me very worried.
