So long as the mucus isn't discolored or foul smelling, then it is most likely normal. When you ovulate, you do have an increase in vaginal discharge. (as you do when you are pregnant as well)

Typically when its brown discharge it is old blood, either from gearing up for your period, or from irritation or something else. It sounds like you are really concerned about this, definitely contact your doctor. No question is ever too silly or unfounded, when it comes to your health. To my thinking, I don't believe it is something to overly concerned about, but definitely ask your doctor. If nothing else it will help to calm your concerns, and also help you better understand your body. Your doctor also better understands your past medical history and such better then anyone else. Good luck.

Ovulation Calendar and Ovulation Chart - FertilityFriend.com is the only one I know of. But there are lots. I am sure if you Google it, there will be a bunch to chose from. Good luck!
