    4 years of cramping
Hi I have been bleeding 3 weeks out of 4. Its been almost 4 years of cramping and almost
Nonstop bleeding. It has been getting worse the last 5 months. My dr. put me on birthcontrol and did blood work (it was normal) in 2008, and more blood work last month (normal) did an altra sound (text book perfect) and now wants to put me back on birthcontrol. I feel like I just keep doing the same thing over and over with no results.
    Please Help,
    T

Do you have a record of what was being looked at with the blood work? Blood tests, outside the normal ones, may need to be ordered looking for specific possible causes or they would never be detected. When they did the ultrasound, was any other procedure done at that time as well to get a clearer picture inside the uterus? What is your age? Do you have children? Are you planning to have any or to have more children?

Some women will experience heavy bleeding during perimenopause, the years leading up to actual menopause. There can be conditions within the uterus that a normal ultrasound would not pick up as well so more invasive procedures may become necessary to determine a cause.

I would ask your doctor, other than a repeat of the birth control, what the next step would be.

Thanks for the reply. I'm 31 and been having problems ever scents I had my last child. (I have two girls ages 5 & 4) the last ultrasound was last month the next step she wants to take if the birthcontrol doesn't work is to try estrogen. My doctor thinks I'm to young to have anything else done. My mom thinks its been 4 years nothing but trouble and disruption to my life, is think I should have a hysterectomy. I just want to enjoy my life again.
    Thanks,

There are a few steps that can be done before going to a hysterectomy. Sometimes the additional hormones can work well. That is usually the first step before going to anything more invasive.

If she hasn't already, a hysteroscopy may let her pick up something going on in the uterus that could be the cause, such polyps. Sometimes a d & c may be suggested to see if that results in any change. If you weren't planning on anymore children, an ablation may be discussed at some point.

I hope she is able to help you get things sorted out soon! I know how frustrating it can be.
