    31 weeks..
Well I turned 31 weeks today and woke up with contractions about 6:30 this morning. Yay , what a day.. I finally had my mom come get me around 10:30 and take me to the hospital. My contractions were 3-4 minutes apart, but luckily my water didn't break and I didn't dilate(like I expected to) They hooked me up to the monitors and gave me a shot to stop the contractions and 1.5 bags of fluid in case of dehydration. Finally about 12:30 the contractions stopped and they monitored me for a little while longer and sent me home. Now it has me really paranoid , so I was wondering what the chances of this happening again are and what are the risk of a baby being born this early . Also around what would he weigh if born now? My brother was born at 27 weeks 24 yrs ago weighing3.5lbs ,one of my cousins was born at 26 weeks 10yrs ago weighing 2lbs,and her brother was born at 35 weeks 4yrs ago weighing almost 6 lbs(he was a big boy) and they all did great and are perfectly fine, 2 of them had to stay in the hospital for a couple of months and the last one stayed for a week. But I want to know what could happen. Sorry this is so long. Also how long will it take the soreness from the contractions to go away cause its killing me to move. Thanks.

Hi... rough guide at 31 weeks is a bit over 3 pounds. Biggest obstacle would be baby's lung maturity as it is the last organ to mature before birth. Most 31 weekers would do fine with care that is available, but would likely stay in hospital for several weeks.

You may or may not experience preterm contractions again. Did they give you medication to use at home or recommend bedrest? IF baby was bound and determined to be born soon, they will give you steroids to help with lung maturity.

The soreness should subside fairly soon... fingers crossed you hang in there for awhile longer! Enjoy pampering yourself from here on out... :)

Thank you. Yeah I really hope he decides to stay in there for a little while longer. No they didn't give me any meds to take at home. They told me to just go to my next dr. appt next Wed and they will decide if about bedrest, they just said to take it easy. I really hope they don't put me on bedrest because I have my 4 yr old daughter and my 1yr old niece everyday and they have no where else to go. Hopefully I won't have to go back to the hospital until I can actually have him!
