    29 weeks pregnancy
    I am 29 weeks pregnant. I had a stitch put on my uterus in November as internal os was open and cervix length was short. But on Sunday I had bleeding (spotting) of 4-5 drops. I was very worried so I showed the doctor. She asked me to take bed rest but didn't tell the reason behind the spotting. Please advise what would be the reason and is it safe for me? I am very worried.

    I am sorry to say that we don't have any more insight then your doctor does.

    There are a bunch of causes of spotting and almost impossible to narrow down the reason why.

    If your doctor doesn't say and you want to know, then ask. I would call them up if possible or make an appointment to get your answers.

    Or just put your feet up and relax because once your little one comes... there will be no time for that. :-)

    You had a stitch put in your cervix, not your uterus. It's called a cerclage. That stitch was put there to keep your cervix closed so that you may carry your baby longer.

    Is is this your first pregnancy?

    4 or 5 drops is really not much to be alarmed about. The reasons are many, so many that we can't answer without knowing your medical history. You were on bed rest, but were you on pelvic rest? Did you have intercourse recently? Intercourse during pregnancy can cause spotting.

    We we cannot tell you if it is safe for you, only your doctor can.
