Aqua Rite, is it working or not?
    Hi,

I bought a house with a swimming pool. The pool has salt generator. I just got the pool up working. The pool chemistry is correct now. I was puzzled by Aqua Rite salt generator and not sure it working or now. The salt generator is an older model, which doesnot have the digital read out. It has the test points to check the voltages, salt concentration...

The voltage reading was only about 1 volts and all other reading like zero. I checked the voltages applied to the cell, it was 30v. Sometimes, the display will show generating, sometimes it shows no salt (constant on). Today I have the water checked it was 4 ppm chlorine and 3000 ppm of salt.

The chlorine was correct and it has been over one week so looks like the unit did generate some chlorine, but the test points were not correct.

I wonder whether any experts here know how to further troubleshoot the unit.

The system also has a ozone generator that get power through the Aqua Rite panel. But I saw the plastic tubing was disconnected. Is there way to troubleshoot whether the system is working and where the plastic tubing is supposed to be hooked up to?

Also the pH of the water has been consistently high. Initially it was 7.7, adding pH down, measured still high, then added muriatic acid according to pinchapenny instruction, it was still high at 7.8. It seems there is some alkalinity source. The alkalinty was 125, a slightly higher than the range, but after adding so much acid, it was still at 125.

Sorry for so many questions, thanks for your help.

The salt generator will not function if your PH is not in the specific range that it needs to be in. This information will be in the owners manual for the salt generator. If you do not have the manual you should try to get one off the manufacturers website - or better yet call them directly.

The salt generator cells need to be changed periodically as part of routing maintenance. Since your model is old, most professionals will have trouble servicing it. Try to get as much information out of the manufacturer as possible.

I hope this information is helpful
