Why would our well water spurt out when first turning on a faucet?
We have well water at our house and for about the last week and a half when first turning on a faucet the water spurts out like there's air in the line. After a moment the water flows normally. We notice this mostly with faucets and showers but it also occurs when flushing toilets. By the way we live in Illinois and by coincidence there was a minor earthquake early in the morning of the day we first started noticing this, although we had another minor earthquake about two years ago and didn't have this problem. The well pump was replaced one year ago so we don't suspect the pump. Thank you!

What's the pressure set at in the bladder tank? Check it by shutting off the pump and bleeding off the pressure.
The tank's pressure should be 2 PSI under the cut in point in the control box. If your cut in point's
30PSI the tank should be set at 28 PSI. Good luck, Tom

"After a moment the water flows normally."

How long is this moment? Are we talking a second or two, or ten to twenty seconds? Also, try having someone turn on a faucet while a second person watches your pressure gauge. See what kind of pressure change you are experiencing. In other words, it goes from xxx to xxx in so many seconds.

I think SB is thinking pressure tank trouble and he is probably heading in the right direction with that. Is this a bladder type tank?
