Why is there no water from my well
Water from well has stopped despite it raining heavily. Summer weather, so not frozen. No sign of electrics having trippped out.

Have you checked your switch? It is the little grey box with wires going in/out. If you haven't, then remove the grey cover (with breaker turned off) and see if the points are closed, which is to say they are touching.

There can be several reasons for no water.

Well is dry. Ground water has very little to do with water in well.

Pressure switch bad. Not going on /off.

Well pump stopped working. Could be off on safety.

Bladder tank not working. Bladder broke.

    What does pressure gauge read?

Are contacts in pressure switch open or closed?
If closed, can u hear pump running with ear to incoming pipe?

On top of bladder tank there is an air valve. Depress and see if water comes out. If yes, bladder is bad. Replace tank. Do not hold down for long time or will have to recharge tank.

If u have a filter on system, could be clogged and need changing.

These are some of things that could be wrong. Check these and get back to us and we can help to correct.

    Good luck

I managed to get the pump working by switching the main switch off and on again and using the small black button switch, which seemed to persuade it to work. The switch may be faulty? Is it urgent to replace it if this is so?

Not real sure what you mean by the small black button switch. The switch I was referring to can be seen in this article.

How to adjust water pump pressure, pump cut-on pressure and pump cut-off pressure - private pump and well system do-it-yourself repairs

Those switches do sometimes have a safety feature to prevent the pump from running when the well water has fallen too low to pump from. It would not be urgent to replace the switch other than you urgently needing water.
