We are adding a bathroom in the basement and would like to install a shower. Half way through the process we realized the shower is to tall to use the upflush system we purchased. The alternative is to have the shower drain into the sump pump we use for the washing machine. Is that okay?

There is a two inch ditch just inside walls that lead to floor drain (8 3/4 inches square, with two inch round hole in center). Can I dig this up and replace with a sump pump? I get water backing up through drain during heavy rain that floods my basement (clear water)?
