    Well pump pressure tank
My electric well pump has been cut off at a vacant house due to cold weather. How do I put pressure back in the tank when the pump is turned back on? Do I put air in the tank and if so how much? Air first or water first. The pump is a surmergible type.

Turn the pump on and, by watching the pressure gauge, note at what point the pump cuts on while water is being used. Let's say its 30#. You will then turn off and drain the system through a low level faucet. Once that is done, you will set the pressure at the top of the tank to 2# below the cuton pressure. In our example above, that would be 28#. Turn your power back on, and you're in business.
