    Water backup under kitchen sink
    Hello there, I have got a leak that is under my kitchen sink and seems to be under the floor. When I drain water it goes down the drain and then it bubbles up from under the floor under my sink and out onto my kitchen floor. It smells really bad. I had a plumber come out about a year ago to actually fix a main water line leak under there but he charged me an arm and a leg and come to find out it was probably something I could have done by myself. Please let me know what could be causing this and what I can do to fix it. By the way, this is a 1961 Florida cement block construction house!

    I live in Florida in a slab house built in 1954. When the same thing happened to me a few years ago I found the copper pipe inside the wall leading to the stack from the stubout had the bottom ate out of it. This let the sinks discharge leak out inside the wall and it came out on the floor under the sink. I had to break into a outside concrete block wall to replace the pipe. This is what should be checked first before any thought is given to goingi n to the floor. This is not a job for the home owner. Outside help is needed here. Sorry! Tom
