    Vent stack distance from fixture
    How far from a toilet or sink can a vent stack be located to be within code.Thanks in advance for your help

    It will depend upon what code you fall under. Do you know your code? Where do you live?
    Rule of thumb will give you between 6 and 10 feet on a three inch drain and between ten and twelve feet between trap and vent for a 4 inch line.
    Also, between 3 1/2' and 5 feet on a 1 1/2" drain and between five and six feet on a 2" line. To be more specific I'll need the code that you are under.
