Does anyone know if I can replace a utility sink in the basement with a shampoo bowl?

Yes you can but you need to be sure both the old and new have the same size drain. Utility sinks have an 1 1/2" drain but I have never installed a shampoo sink so please check, I think they are 1 1/2". Also ask your building department if they require a vacuum breaker for shampoo sinks.

    Hi Purplepeoples...

It should not be a big deal to swap out a typical utility sink over to a shampoo bowl setup... ;) The fittings to adapt over from the old pipes to the new pipes is all that is in question really.

Are you planning on pulling a plumbing permit for the work?

    Let me know...

I haven't decided what I was going to do quite yet. First I wanted to know if it was even possible. I thought that it would be possible since it's kind of like switching one sink for another (I guess).

You will also need to install a 'Hair Trap', particularly if this is going to be a commercial enterprise.

Hi, I want to hook up a utility sink next to my washing machine on the first floor. The washer discharges into a standpipe. The standpipe has a trap, and then connects through a tee to a vertical waste pipe (drain stack?) that goes upstairs through the roof as a vent. Below this tee, there is...
