URGENT heating might be causing a cross contamination
I was topping up water in heating system and noticed that plumber had taken the feed from the cold water pipe in the hotpress a few inches before it feeds my showerThis pipe comes from the main storage tank and so it supplies taps ,shower, and toilets. The heating feed did have a fitting I think it's a non return valve picture attached and a stop cock which I had to change because it was locked open.my house was built 2004 but because I live in a hard water area I am concerned about cross contamination because even with a water softer I have had to change two ball cocks already and the non return valve might be faulty to .I checked neighbors house looks like all 64 in my estate might be the same .I am worried should I report today in case someone gets sick from contaminated water.I am a tiler and have seen a lot bad practice on sites in all trades during celtic tiger .Plumber was builders son .The heating has not worked properly since I moved in a few years ago pressure less half a bar no loop attached from main to bring it up to 1.5 bar as advised in manual Vokera Mynute 28e only gravity feed for 5 bed

You said, "The heating feed did have a fitting i think its a non return valve picture attached"

Obviously the picture didn't make it so hard to tell you much without that!

I can tell you that all forced hot water boilers in the USA are required to have a pressure regulator, a backflow preventer and a shutoff. The pressure regulator and backflow preventer can be a combination valve.

Post the pic. And we'll see what we think, OK?

I'm afraid that isn't a valve we install over here in the USA... could be a check valve which can kind of act as a BF preventer, but definitely isn't one!

I'm afraid you'll need to contact your local plumbing inspector and ask him, OK?

    Good luck!
